OK, the BIG day has finally arrived after many months of training - Catherine's first triathlon!
A BIG day for her and a Big day for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
With lots of amazing support from her family & friends, Catherine raised $2400!
Check it out here: http://pages.teamintraining.org/rm/oktobfst09/cwarrenrzk
The event is at Union Reservoir, just east of Longmont, CO - about 2+ hours north of Colorado Springs.
All the folks dressed up in the black suits most likely are swimmers. :)
A good weather day with relatively "warm" water too.
Instructions being given for the first (most competitive) wave of five waves.
Oh, here comes Catherine, center, after checking out the "warm" water.
All along the journey, Shane and Carissa were essential parts of The Team.
It's a half-mile swim - if you can keep to the course amid all the splashing. :)
[My few pix of the start of the swim didn't turn out. .. I salvaged this telephoto image.]
[Another salvage job - sorry about that.]
All right - only 19:58 (min:sec) later and here comes Catherine.
[Center of group; hands behind head.]
Solid ground feels SO good.
Time to transition to the bike.
No fair helping inside the barrier.
Wearing her fastest helmet!
See ya soon.
Three loops for 12.4 miles. .. Like the swim, the bike and run are fairly level courses - thank God.
They also serve who stand and wait.
