Debate: "Should Same-Sex Civil Unions Be Legalized?" .. Moderated by John Stonestreet, Executive Director of Operations at Summit Ministries.
On the left, Glenn Stanton, Director for Family Formation Studies at Focus on the Family. .. On the right, Jonathan Rauch, a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution and a contributing editor of National Journal and The Atlantic.
Following a Q&A format with the moderator, there was time for questions from the floor submitted on index cards.
Sadly, as far as I could tell, I was the only member of the local community who was not involved in the Summit conference - but, ya never know.
OK, Monday morning now at Focus on the Family.
Jonathan with host Glenn.
Glenn had a few questions, but most of the questions were from the audience.
I believe a UCCS prof and myself were the only non-Focus-employees present, although the event was open to the public.
Although on different sides of the "gay marriage" debate, Jonathan and Glenn have great respect and admiration for each other - and it was terrific to see them respectfully engaging together.
Hoping Jonathan will be returning to Colorado Springs again before too long, as he hopes to partner with Focus in some way in valuing and promoting marriage for all.
