USAFA Cadet Troy Egbert leading the North Ridge of Montezuma's Tower
Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs
This is the east side of the fin.
Here viewing the now sunny west side of the fin.
[The other rock appearing here behind our fin is part of Grey Rock, actually quite distant and much higher and larger.]
Troy nearing the top.
OK, Aspen converts from belayer to second.
She's "dragging" a second rope that will be used with the long 130' rappel later.
The crux of this 5.7*** route is here near the start.
There's really nothing to grab - so grab anything!
All right - she's nailed it!
You can see the first bolt on the route, just above her head.
Off and "running" now.
Reaching up to unclip a bolt.
Note - she's not stepping on the bolt!
There had been a sling cinched around that hole.
Troy belaying and barely visible here on top.
Does this look gnarly or what!
As a two-pitch climb, this would be the upper belay station for the first pitch.
However, Troy led the whole route at once with a long rope.
Taking pictures while belaying is an art!
