Life is Good in Cowboy Cabin 7 at the Zion Ponderosa - headquarters for the American Canyoneering Association Fall Rendezvous.
This is Joel's side of the cabin.
You can see that my side is more organized - right!
Home sweet home. Bathrooms nearby.
OK, ahead of Keyhole, we're taking a nearby sidetrip to check out some petroglyphs.
Note: this gallery first displays all Bill's pix for the day. Then it repeats with Joel's pix. Later on I'll combine and synch the two sets of pix (and use fewer shots).
Passing under Hwy 9.
Yep, three canyoneers here!
This is at a different nearby location - Big Horn Sheep canyoneers.
This is where we'll be coming out of Keyhole Cyn, which is a more like a fairly short loop hike.
OK - off and running.
L-R: Bill (a different Bill, not me), Joel, "Leader" Rick, and Arnold.
As it's a short hike to the drop-in, most of us already have our wetsuits on.
For detailed info on Keyhole Cyn (including map), check out Tom Jones' terrific website: http://www.canyoneeringusa.com/utah/zion/key.htm
The canyon starts at the gap in the rock - bottom, center.
11:30 and ready to launch.
Note: early-on there are some pools, though shallow.
An open section mid-way.
Back into the bowels.
Joel never met a log he didn't like!
The other option is to rapp down this spot.
We know who this is!
The pools are getting wetter!
Dim light makes for slow shutter speeds. :(
Looking up or back.
Some flash reflection here, related to water on lens, I think.
[My camera is waterproof.]
There were a couple of swimmers - one fairly long.
