OK - on the road to The Crags, but only a little ways past the Mennonite Camp. The road wasn't drivable beyond here.
Hmm, a mound of snow.
Oh, either a bear den or an igloo.
L-R: Leah & Katharine - being brave inside the den.
L-R: Leah's mom Victoria, K's mom Patty, and the bear (Joe).
Stream crossing on a narrow log.
It had snowed the day before - perfect!
Back on the road to The Crags - with lots of snowshoe and ski tracks.
Right - snowshoe out in front.
Gnarly Bill in the lead.
GB has climbed a steep hillside - who will follow?
Katharine is game.
So was Victoria.
Yes - snowshoe out in front.
Heading through a meadow - but keep an eye out for hidden crevasses!
Hmm - must be a crevasse back there.
[Yes, he is actually standing - not kneeling.]
It's all in how you handle the poles.
Sometimes - the poles don't cooperate.
Hmm - maybe time to get new poles!
It was a scenic and fun outing with a gnarly group.
Now - heading back to the car and a great Chinese lunch in Woodland Park.
Oh, we'll come back for Joe later in the spring. :)
